Why I Started GlampLaunch at 23: The Real Story Behind the UK’s Fastest-Growing Glamping Brand

    Read Time: 5 mins

Collage of Taylor Glass working as an electrician on construction sites before starting GlampLaunch, showing the early stage of his journey.

When I was 22, I was pulling cables on freezing job sites across Europe, working long days, cold mornings, and 12-hour shifts wiring buildings so someone else could get richer. I’d wake up, drag myself to another site, and feel the same thing every day. This wasn’t building a future for me. It was just letting me survive while someone else lived comfortably.

A year later, I’d had enough. I quit, started my own company from a laptop in my bedroom, and ended up building a brand that now helps landowners across the UK and Ireland turn empty land into real income, without having to rely on the same system I walked away from.

This is the honest story behind GlampLaunch on why I started it, what pushed me to break away, and how I built something designed to help other people do the same.

The Turning Point That Changed My Life

In December 2022, I was standing on a site in Bratislava, Slovakia. It was freezing, and I was exhausted. Working another 70–80-hour week on a job felt endless. The man who owned the electrical company I worked for was a deca-millionaire.

While I was wiring circuits in sub-zero weather, he was building an underground car park for his Ferraris and million-pound art collection.

And that’s when it hit me.

    I wasn’t building a career, I was building someone else’s empire.

Every wire I installed added another pound to someone else’s fortune. I decided that day that I would never again make another man rich at the cost of my own freedom.

The First Spark — From a Laptop to My First Sale

In April 2023, I quit my job and launched Home Living Luxury from my bedroom. I was 22, broke, and had no safety net, but I was stubborn enough to believe I could figure it out. I started small, selling luxury outdoor products like saunas, garden furniture, and gym equipment.

Then one client asked for something completely different: a bespoke garden office pod.

We built it using the same supplier who made our saunas. She used it as her office during the week, and her son stayed in it at weekends when he came home from university.

When that £10,000 payment hit my account, it wasn’t the money that changed things, it was the proof. Proof that people would buy high-ticket products online if they genuinely trusted the person behind the brand.

That sale flipped a switch for me.

It made me realise I didn’t just want to sell products. I wanted to build something bigger.

    The Industry Wake-Up Call

As more orders came in and I started looking deeper into the glamping market, I honestly couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Most suppliers looked like they were stuck in another decade. Their websites felt like they hadn’t been touched since 2010, with no videos, no real photos, no testimonials, no social proof. Yet they were trying to sell £60,000 pods with less information than what you’d get when ordering a takeaway.

    And the worst part?

    • No one was educating customers.

    • No planning guidance.

    • No setup advice.

    • No delivery details.

    • No marketing support.

Just the same dead-end line: “Call for a quote.”

The world had moved online, but the industry was still operating like it was 2005.

That’s when it clicked for me.

I could take everything I’d learned from e-commerce, digital systems, and storytelling, and actually bring it into glamping. I didn’t need a showroom. I didn’t need a big payroll. I just needed to be transparent, honest, and focused on delivering real value.

That was the moment GlampLaunch stopped being an idea and became the mission.

The Mission: Breaking the Glamping Industry Rules on Purpose

I didn’t build GlampLaunch to be another supplier. I built it to be a rebellion against everything that’s wrong with this industry.

    • No inflated £60k pods.

    • No faceless brochures.

    • No “call us for a quote” nonsense that hides the real price.

We run lean, remote, and founder-led, and that’s deliberate. Every pound we save on overheads goes straight back into giving clients better products and better systems.

Our pods are European-built, BS7671-compliant, and delivered at factory-direct prices. Every project we complete is proof that the old model, the overpriced, outdated, stuck-in-the-past model, is finished.

We don’t drag pods to trade shows. We don’t hire sales reps to stand in fancy showrooms. Honestly, I’d rather jump out of a plane in a GlampLaunch t-shirt than spend £60,000 on marketing fluff, and I literally did that.

GlampLaunch exists for people who want to live life on their own terms. People who want freedom over their time, their land, and their future. Not chained to the system, but sovereign, independent, and profitable.

Battling the Red Tape, the Overheads, and the Fear

When I got into this industry, I realised most people don’t fail because their land isn’t good enough. They fail because the system scares them off before they even start. Planning rules, confusing regulations, and overinflated supplier prices leave people feeling stuck and unsure of what to do next.

It feels like everything is designed to favour the people with money, contacts, or years of experience. And everyone else is left trying to figure it out on their own.

    So we flipped the model.

GlampLaunch exists to remove the fear by giving people clarity, confidence, and control over their projects.

That’s why we built our 5-Step Glamping Launch Framework. It guides you from idea to income, covering everything from feasibility and permissions to pod design, delivery, setup, and even marketing. Because once you actually know the path, you can walk it.

Check out our comprehensive Glamping Site Feasibility Study & Planning Assessment that is designed to give landowners real clarity so they can make the right decisions from day one.

From Wiring Buildings to Building Dreams

Working as an electrician taught me discipline, problem-solving, and how to keep going when things get tough. But building GlampLaunch taught me something completely different; it taught me freedom.

I learned that you can create something huge with nothing but a laptop, a vision, and the willingness to actually do the work.

I learned that trust doesn’t come from fancy offices or big funding. It comes from integrity and showing up honestly every day.

And I learned that leadership isn’t about shouting orders from the top. It’s about walking through the hard parts first and then lighting the path so other people can follow it with confidence.

    Discipline built me.

    Vision rewired me.

Now, instead of wiring buildings, I’m building systems that help people build their own futures. That’s what GlampLaunch really stands for: independence, creativity, and giving people the opportunity to take control of their lives.

    Summary

    • Taylor left 12-hour construction shifts across Europe after realising he was building someone else’s wealth, not his own.

    • In 2023, he launched a bedroom startup that proved people would buy high-value products online if they trusted the person behind the brand.

    • When he looked into the glamping industry, he found outdated websites, hidden pricing, no guidance, and £60k pods sold with zero transparency.

GlampLaunch was created as a rebellion against that: lean, digital-first, founder-led, and built on honesty, fair pricing, and real customer education.

    • Case studies and client testimonials now prove the model works.

    • Most people fail to start glamping projects due to planning confusion, supplier costs, and fear, not bad land.

GlampLaunch solves this with its 5-Step Glamping Launch Framework and Feasibility Study, giving landowners clarity and a real plan.

    • Taylor’s journey from electrician to founder is about independence, integrity, and helping others build their own freedom.

    FAQs

    1. Why did Taylor Glass start GlampLaunch?

Taylor started GlampLaunch after realising he was spending 12-hour days wiring buildings so someone else could get richer. A turning point on a freezing site in Slovakia made him decide to stop building other people’s empires and start building his own.

When his first £10,000 online sale proved that people trusted him, he shifted from selling outdoor products to creating a modern, transparent, digital-first glamping brand.

    2. What makes GlampLaunch different from traditional glamping pod suppliers?

Most of the industry still relies on outdated websites, hidden pricing, and old-school sales tactics like “call for a quote.” GlampLaunch was built as a rebellion against that model, with transparent pricing, digital systems, no showrooms, no inflated costs, and a lean operation that passes savings directly to clients.

Every pod is European-built, BS7671-compliant, and delivered at factory-direct prices.

    3. Why do most landowners struggle to start a glamping site?

Most people fail before they even begin because of planning confusion, fear of making the wrong investment, and overpriced supplier quotes. It’s rarely the land that’s the issue. It’s the lack of clarity.

GlampLaunch solves this by giving people a clear roadmap through the 5-Step Glamping Launch Framework, covering feasibility, permissions, design, delivery, and marketing.

    4. What is the Glamping Site Feasibility Study?

The Feasibility Study is a detailed assessment designed to help landowners make confident, informed decisions before investing.

It reviews land suitability, planning restrictions, setup costs, potential income, and the steps required to launch successfully. It’s the quickest way to go from confusion to a clear plan of action.

    5. What does GlampLaunch really stand for?

GlampLaunch is built around freedom, independence, and transparency. Taylor created the company to help people take control of their land, income, and future, not to trap them in another expensive, outdated system.

The brand’s mission, journey, and entire approach are focused on giving landowners clarity, confidence, and the opportunity to build something meaningful on their own terms.
